Are you considering a transformative makeover for your home or office interior in Ireland but worried about the costs? You're not alone. The fear of the unknown, particularly concerning the potential interior renovation cost, can deter many from pursuing their dream space. But worry not! At BuildPro, we aim to empower you with comprehensive insights and make the process as transparent as possible. This detailed guide will demystify all you need to know about the interior renovation cost in Ireland.

What is Interior Renovation?

Before diving into the costs, let's understand what interior renovation entails. It’s a process of breathing fresh life into an indoor space. This could be anything from simple cosmetic changes like painting and changing fixtures to extensive overhauls such as modifying the space layout. An interior renovation can benefit residential homes, commercial offices, industrial buildings, and institutional spaces.

Why Renovate Your Interior?

There are numerous compelling reasons to consider interior renovation, depending on your specific circumstances and goals. Here are a few:

Aesthetic Enhancement:

Interior renovations allow you to refresh outdated styles, enabling your space to stay on-trend or achieve a timeless look.

Property Value Boost:

If you're considering selling or renting your property, renovation can significantly increase its market value and appeal, making it more attractive to prospective buyers or tenants.

Energy Efficiency:

A key motivation for renovation is improving the energy efficiency of a space. This can be achieved through updating insulation, installing energy-efficient appliances, or improving the property's heating and cooling systems.

Space Optimization:

Renovations offer a chance to utilise your space better. This could involve creating more room or rearranging the existing layout to suit your changing needs and preferences.

Repair and Maintenance:

The interior renovation is an effective way to repair any damaged elements within your space. This not only prevents smaller issues from turning into major problems but also enhances the lifespan of your property.

Personalisation:

Your space should reflect you. Renovations allow you to customise your space to your preferences, creating a unique environment that is truly 'yours.'

What Factors Influence the Interior Renovation Cost?

Size of Your Space

Naturally, the bigger your space, the higher the interior renovation cost. The cost is usually calculated per square foot. Larger spaces require more materials and labour, leading to higher costs.

Scope of Renovation

Are you planning a simple redecoration or a complete overhaul of your space? The broader and more complicated your renovation plans are, the higher the cost.

Quality of Materials

High-end materials will increase the interior renovation cost. If you aim for a luxurious look, you must budget for premium materials like marble or hardwood.

Labour Costs

Labour costs in Ireland can vary greatly, depending on the skill level of the workers you hire. Highly experienced workers command a higher fee.

Average Interior Renovation Cost in Ireland

Basic Renovation

For a basic renovation involving new paint, floor refinishing, and minor updates to fixtures, the average cost ranges from €50 to €75 per square foot.

Mid-Range Renovation

A mid-range renovation might involve updating kitchen and bathroom fixtures, replacing doors and windows, and adding built-in storage. The interior renovation cost for a mid-range project is typically between €75 and €150 per square foot.

High-End Renovation

A high-end renovation could involve structural changes, fixtures, custom cabinetry, and premium materials. The project cost can start from €150 and go upwards per square foot.

Let's break down the average costs of some common interior renovation projects to give you a rough idea:

Painting

Painting can transform a space quickly and relatively cheaply. In Ireland, painting an interior space can cost between €10 and €20 per square metre. Factors like paint type and quality, number of coats, preparation work, and job complexity can affect the final cost.

Flooring

Flooring changes can significantly impact a space's aesthetic. The cost for flooring can vary from €20 to €100 per square metre depending on the type of flooring material, installation method, subfloor condition, and complexity of the job.

Lighting, Plumbing, and Electrical Works

Proper lighting can enhance the mood and functionality of a space. Installation costs range from €50 to €200 per light fixture, depending on the fixture type, electrical work, and job complexity.

Plumbing and electrical work, vital for comfort and safety, respectively, can cost between €100-€500 per plumbing fixture and €150-€800 per electrical point.

Carpentry, Furniture, Fixtures, and Appliances

Carpentry, crucial for adding character and functionality to a space, can cost between €200 to €1000 per item, depending on the type, quality, materials, and labour involved.

Furniture and fixtures can majorly influence a space’s style and comfort. The costs can vary greatly, from €500 to €5000 per furniture item and €50 to €500 per fixture item.

Appliances improve a space's efficiency and convenience, and costs range between €300 and €3000 per appliance item depending on the type, quality, energy rating, and warranty.

How to clone into other project?

  • Press "Ctrl + E" or "Cmd + E" in the Designer and enable "Select on-page element".

  • Search for the class named, "Cloneable Area".

  • Copy the element inside this container to your own project.

  • Rename the classes accordingly if they are clashing with your project.

  • Ensure custom code from the in-page setting has been copied into your project as well (if there's any).

  • 'Page Trigger' interaction can't be copied directly. You can only clone the whole project, or rebuild it.
A simple trick to copy the 'Page Trigger' interaction into another project is as below:

    1. Create a dummy element.
    2. Apply any type of 'Element trigger' into the dummy element and select the 'Page Trigger' animation.
    3. Copy the dummy element with the animations applied into your new project.
    4. The animation should have been copied into your project and you can reapply the 'Page Trigger' animation into your project.
